Frequently Asked Questions
Neurofeedback is brain fitness exercise.
Q. What does Neurofeedback help?
Neurofeedback training can help you with...
Academic, athletic and professional achievement
ADD, hyperactivity, and concentration
Anxiety and stress management
Sleep, pain and health regulation
Q. What is a session like?
Sensors are applied to the scalp with paste. Goals are set that require you to voluntarily produce beneficial brain wave patterns. You're rewarded when your brain shifts toward more appropriate and stable brain states.
It is painless and does not involve the application of any voltage or current to the brain.
Q. What if I am taking Medication?
As the brain takes over the role of regulating itself, medications targeting brain function may no longer be needed or they may be needed at lower dosages. It is important for you to communicate with your prescribing physician about medication changes.
Q. How does Neurofeedback training differ from conventional treatment of ADD?
In conventional treatment, the standardized approach for ADD is to prescribe stimulant medication exclusively to remedy all behavioral and academic problems. This approach may cause unwanted short or event long-term side effects.
ADD seems to be symptoms of a brain disregulation that Neurofeedback can address directly.
Neurofeedback can help a variety of childhood problems including nightmares, attention deficits and other forms of disruptive and disturbing behaviors.
Neurofeedback can assist adolescents who struggle with anxiety and depression or attention problems.
For adults, Neurofeedback can alleviate physical and emotional symptoms associated with pain or P.T.S.D.
Q. Do you accept insurance?
I am a 'fee-for-service' provider. This means that the client pays at the time of the appointment and then waits for reimbursement from their insurance plan (when applicable). Click on the photo below for a list of questions to ask your Health Insurance
